A Very Special Christmas at Magdaville: Honoring Mama Bia Magdalene Etongwe's Legacy

Christmas is a time of joy, love, and giving, where families and communities come together to celebrate and create lasting memories. In the heart of Lower Bosumbu Village in Mile Four Limbe, a coastal town in Cameroon, a very special Christmas celebration took place on December 25, 2022. This festive event, held at Magdaville, was dedicated to honoring the remarkable legacy of a matriarch Mama Bia Magdalene Etongwe. It brought together the community's children, delicious Christmas treats, and a heartfelt tribute to a beloved individual.

Honoring Mama Bia's Legacy

 Mama Bia Magdalene Etongwe was a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration for her community. She was known for her selflessness, compassion, and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of children in her community. Mama Bia's efforts were instrumental in providing education, healthcare, and a brighter future for numerous underprivileged children. For many years. Mama hosted Christmas party for the children of Bosumbu at her home Magdaville. Her devotion to their well-being was unmatched, and she became a cherished figure in the hearts of all who knew her. Her untimely passing in April 2022 left a void in the hearts of many, but her legacy continued to shine brightly during this remarkable Christmas celebration.

 

The Christmas Party

 To honor Mama Bia's memory, her Children together with the community organized a special Christmas party at Magdaville. The event aimed to bring joy and laughter to the children Mama Bia held dear. The venue was adorned with vibrant decorations, illuminating the spirit of the holiday season. Christmas trees, twinkling lights, and festive ornaments created a magical ambiance for the young ones to enjoy. Mama's Children is wide that comprises of the entire community that Mama Bia had nurtured and supported. The bonds forged through her compassion and dedication were evident in the unity displayed during this special Christmas celebration. The villagers embraced one another, offering comfort, encouragement, and strength, knowing that they were all part of Mama Bia's extended family.

Delicious Cameroonian Food and Drinks

No celebration in Cameroon is complete without the tantalizing flavors of Cameroonian cuisine. Traditional dishes like Fufu and Eru, Christmas Jellof Rice, Roasted Chicken, Roasted Fish, Tomato Stew, Dodo, Yam, Miondo, and fruits adorned the tables, tempting everyone's taste buds. The aroma of grilled fish and chicken filled the air, while sweet treats like puff-puffs and chin-chin delighted both young and old. To quench their thirst, the children enjoyed refreshing glasses of fulere, a local drink made from hibiscus petals. Sharing these delightful culinary treasures brought the community closer together, reminiscing about Mama Bia's love for food and her extraordinary cooking skills.

The Christmas Cake

No Christmas party is complete without delectable treats, and Magdaville didn't disappoint. A sumptuous feast awaited the children. The highlight of the culinary experience was the Christmas cake. Baked to perfection, the cake symbolized the sweetness and joy of the occasion. With every bite, the children could taste the love and care that went into its creation.

Father and Mother Christmas

The children eagerly anticipated the arrival of Father Christmas and Mother Christmas.

The excitement reached its peak as Father Christmas and Mother Christmas made a grand entrance. Dressed in their iconic red and white outfits, they brought cheer and surprises for the children. With his jolly demeanor, distributed gifts and listened intently to the children's Christmas wishes. Mother Christmas shared heartwarming stories and imparted valuable lessons, reminding everyone of the true meaning of Christmas. The excitement in the air was palpable as the children opened their presents, their smiles radiating the true spirit of Christmas.

Flowers for the Grave

As the celebrations continued, in a poignant moment during the festivities, a group of children together with the Priest gathered around Mama Bia's grave, adorned with a bouquet colorful flower. The flower symbolized the love and gratitude they held for her. Everyone took a moment to reflect on the impact Mama Bia had on their lives and the enduring legacy she left behind. The flowers served as a reminder that her spirit lived on, continuing to inspire kindness and compassion in the hearts of all. It was a bittersweet moment, as they celebrated her memory while feeling her absence keenly. The children shared stories about Mama Bia, expressing their gratitude for the impact she had on their lives.
